FAQs
Choosing your extensions
What is the difference between clip-in and weft extensions?
Clip-in extensions attach with clips and can be removed after each wear. Weft extensions are fitted to your natural hair for a longer-wear style and need professional installation and maintenance. The best option depends on your hair, routine and the look you want. If you are unsure, ask a qualified stylist to help you choose.
How do I apply clip-in extensions?
Start with clean, dry, detangled hair. Section your hair, open the clips, and attach each piece close to the roots without pulling on your scalp. Spread the pieces evenly, then release your hair and blend. If a clip feels uncomfortable or creates tension, remove it and reposition it. Take clip-ins out before sleeping, washing your hair or swimming.
How are weft extensions applied?
Weft extensions should be fitted and maintained by a qualified stylist using a method suited to your hair and the specific weft. Follow your stylist’s care and maintenance schedule. If an attachment feels loose, uncomfortable or irritating, contact your stylist rather than pulling or trying to remove it yourself.
Caring for your extensions
How should I brush and wash them?
- Detangle gently from the ends upward, supporting the hair near the roots as you brush.
- Wash only when needed and use gentle products suitable for human-hair extensions. Smooth shampoo and conditioner down the lengths rather than scrubbing, rubbing or twisting the hair.
- Keep conditioner, oils and styling products away from clips or other attachment points unless your stylist advises otherwise.
- Use heat protectant and a moderate heat setting when styling, and limit repeated heat exposure.
- Remove clip-ins before washing and store them clean and completely dry. For wefts, follow your stylist’s instructions for washing and drying, including care around the attachment area.
How long will my extensions last?
There is no single lifespan that applies to every set. Wear frequency, care, styling habits and maintenance all affect how long extensions stay in good condition. Clip-ins are removed between wears, while wefts need professional maintenance during wear. Follow the care guidance supplied with your specific product and ask your stylist for advice about your set.
Can extensions damage my natural hair?
A comfortable fit and careful handling matter. Avoid pulling or wearing clips that feel tight. If you notice pain, ongoing tension or scalp irritation, remove clip-ins or contact your stylist promptly about installed wefts.
This is general guidance. Follow the instructions supplied with your specific extensions and your stylist’s advice, as care and maintenance can vary by product and installation method.
